3 Versions of Samsung Galaxy S in China

I’m sure! Chinese people are already excited with the release of Samsung Galaxy S in their country. The said mobile phone will be launched by the 3 major telecoms in China.

China Telecom will launch its own version of Samsung Galaxy S this September. It will be called Samsung SCH-I909 that will cater CDMA and GSM networks.

TD-SCDMA Samsung GT-I9008 is the version from China Mobile. It will run on the Ophone 2.0 platform and support Chinese CMMB mobile TV service.

The third version will be from China Unicom that will be known as GT-I9088. This phone will look like the international version.

iPhone is the "Invention of the Year" According to Time

Time magazine has voted iPhone as the "Invention of the Year".

The Time gives five reasons why the iPhone is the best thing invented this year:

1. The iPhone is pretty
Most high-tech companies don't take design seriously. They treat it as an afterthought.

2. It's touchy-feely
Apple's engineers used the touchscreen to innovate past the graphical user interface (which Apple helped pioneer with the Macintosh in the 1980s) to create a whole new kind of interface, a tactile one that gives users the illusion of actually physically manipulating data with their hands—flipping through album covers, clicking links, stretching and shrinking photographs with their fingers.

3. It will make other phones better
Jobs didn't write the code inside the iPhone. These days he doesn't dirty his fingers with 1's and 0's, if he ever really did. But he did negotiate the deal with AT&T to carry the iPhone. That's important: one reason so many cell phones are lame is that cell-phone-service providers hobble developers with lame rules about what they can and can't do. AT&T gave Apple unprecedented freedom to build the iPhone to its own specifications. Now other phone makers are jealous. They're demanding the same freedoms. That means better, more innovative phones for all.

4. It's not a phone, it's a platform
When Apple made the iPhone, it didn't throw together some cheap-o bare-bones firmware. It took OS X, its full-featured desktop operating system, and somehow squished it down to fit inside the iPhone's elegant glass-and-stainless-steel case. That makes the iPhone more than just a gadget. It's a genuine handheld, walk-around computer, the first device that really deserves the name.

5. It is but the ghost of iPhones yet to come
The iPhone has sold enough units—more than 1.4 million at press time—that it'll be around for a while, and with all that room to develop and its infinitely updatable, all-software interface, the iPhone is built to evolve. Look at the iPod of six years ago. That monochrome interface! That clunky touchwheel! It looks like something a caveman whittled from a piece of flint using another piece of flint. Now imagine something that's going to make the iPhone look that primitive. You'll have one in a few years. It'll be very cool. And it'll be even cheaper.

Ode To My Mobile Phone :(

I lost my cellphone just a few hours ago. Of course I felt sad and frustrated. Sad because I already love my cellphone...we were together for almost 7 months (up to this date). Frustrated because it was stolen just under my nose. I was able to buy it with my last year's 13 month pay..huhuhuhuhuhu

Let me relay the story:

1. Last night, I wasn't able to sleep because I was thinking that my boyfriend's cellphone was stolen for it's unattended the whole night. Perhaps it's already a premonition.

2. I set the phone's alarm to 6:30 am.

3. The alarm went on..

4. I put off the alarm..it's already 6:30 am.

5. I returned to my sleep and after a few minutes....viola! the cellphone's gone..

It was stolen while I am sleeping beside it...what a tragic case of theft...

All in all, 4 cellphones and a wallet (with 800 pesos) were being stolen in that dark minute. We were able to file the case in a police station but without a suspect. I guess, it will be one of the unsolved cases....

Right now, I am wrestling with the negative and bad emotions....well, God has His own vengeance.

Thanks to my mom's comforting words..and also for john's...hehehehe

MySpace Deletes 29,000 Accounts

MySpace, a popular internet social network reported that it detected and deleted 29,000 convicted sex offenders on its service, more than four times the figure it had initially reported.

I guess this is the management's action after some of its young members fell prey to adult predators posing as minors over the past year. The families of several teenage girls sexually assaulted by MySpace members sued the service in January for failing to safeguard its young members.

As of May, there were about 600,000 registered sex offenders in the United States. So,guys and gals, you should be careful in trusting a stranger.

The new Harry Potter book sold like hot cakes this past few days! News said that 8.3 million copies were being sold in its first 24 hours on sale in U.S. thus setting a new record. Deathly Hallows averaged more than 300,000 copies in sales per hour - more than 5,000 a minute.

At $34.99 a piece, the last Potter book generated far more revenue than the opening weekend of the latest Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, which came out last July 10th.

So have you read the book? Some were searching over the net for copies that leaked in pdf form. I have two copies here. Burj: Dubai: World's Tallest Building

The United Arab Emirates has just stolen the crown from Taiwan in the tallest building stakes. The Burj Dubai, still under construction, reached 141 stories as of 21/07/07. The structure stands an impressive 512.1m (1,680ft) tall.

The Taipei 101, in Taiwan, was the previous titleholder standing at 508m high and resided above the rest of the architectural world since its opening in 2004. The developers of the Burj Dubai, Emaar properties, declined to comment on how tall the completed structure would be.

Australian scientists have developed a remote that sits by your TV and tracks hand gestures to operate your television, DVD player and up to 6 other devices (basically, as many as you can shake a fist at. A box that sits on a television set has a camera that watches you. Hand and arm movements are interpreted by software, and commands are sent to the TV, DVD player and music system.

A clenched fist means "start", an outstretched hand with closed fingers means "power on", a thumbs-up sign means "up" and a sideways victory sign means "channel".

This is the first version of the NEO 1973 mobile phone, which carries the Linux kernel inside and is not locked to a specific network. It's not as jaw-droppingly pretty as the iPhone, but it shares a design philosophy -- no buttons, just a screen -- and it's ready to be loaded with any number of open-source software applications. It's spreading over the internet, Sony Corporation will launch a slimmer model of its PlayStation Portable handheld game player this coming September, in its latest attempt to ignite demand for its game hardware and compete better with Nintendo Co. Ltd.

According to Sony Computer Entertainment Chief Executive Kazuo Hirai, "From a distance, this PSP might not look very different from the current model ... but when you have it in your hand, the difference becomes quite clear." It's actually 33 percent lighter than the current PSP. It's also 19 percent slimmer!

Although the iPhone is not without a few quirks, it makes good on the hype that surrounded it.

Some Wall Street analysts say that Apple might have sold as many as 700,000 iPhones over the device’s opening weekend. It’s clear that the iPhone generated a lot of interest on Friday’s launch day (June 29). Some shoppers reported delays in activation but AT&T said most issues have been resolved.

While most iPhone owners couldn't wait to try out their pricey new gadgets, a few raced to break them apart that revealed iPhones' closely guarded secrets: The names of the companies that supplied the chips and other electronic components for the highly anticipated device.

A video on YouTube showing two guys banging away at an iPhone with a hammer and nail had garnered 56,000 views and was the 13th most-watched clip on the site last Sunday. Watching the clip, it is difficult to see what was learned from the destruction.

Arigatou Co., Ltd., a company that specializes in the sale of laser-etched food products, offers “Taberu Me”,an edible business cards printed on peanuts, walnuts, cashew nuts, red bean, black bean, grains of rice, and even pasta. Arigatou uses a high-grade CO2 laser engraver nicknamed “Shiawase-kun,” which can etch up to 700 characters per second on hard organic materials. A set of 150 Taberu Me cards costs 5,800 yen (around $50).

According to the company, Taberu means “eat” and "Me" could either be an abbreviation of meishi (”business card”) or “me” in English, in which case Taberu Me would be saying “Eat me” — a message you probably don’t want to convey to your new business partner at the first meeting.

People are on their heels and stretching their necks for the most awaited day: June 29, the releasing date of Apple's iPhone. But as days pass by, a big question remains to be unanswered. Will the gadget — which triples as a cell phone, iPod media player and a wireless Web device — be as "revolutionary" as Apple CEO Steve Jobs has claimed?

According to Yahoo news, even if the product flops for some reason or stays limited to the high-end corner of the smart phone market, the iPhone has already jolted the industry, showing that it is not just the body and outward beauty of the handset that counts, but what's inside.

"This is the most anticipated phone since Alexander Graham Bell did his," said Michael Gartenberg, an industry analyst at JupiterResearch. "Part of it is the fascination with Apple's products and how well they design them, but it's also about how poor the design in software is in cell phones now, and how much time Apple has spent working on this."

More of Apple's iPhone commercials showed a finger swiping the touch screen display to activate the home menu, and with one tap on the photo icon, up pop your photos. Another icon zips over to your contacts.

Manhunt 2: The Controversies

Manhunt 2, the sequel to the violent computer game "Manhunt", was banned in Britain due to " unrelenting focus on sadism and brutal slaying". It has been said that it's the first time of British censors to ban a video game in 10 years. Hence, the game cannot be legally supplied anywhere in Britain.

Furthermore, the ban prompted one U.S. family group to start lobbying for a rating to ensure major American retailers cannot sell the game. In it, players become an insane asylum escapee sneaking up on enemies and killing them in gruesome ways.

Just in time with the screening of the movie, the Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer video game will also be launched today. It stars the Marvel Comics characters Fantastic Four and the Silver Surfer.

The game allows the player to take on the role of any member of the Fantastic Four team and to switch characters anytime. Each member has a unique ability that will get through different situations. During the game, the player will also face enemies from the Fantastic Four universe, such as Silver Surfer, Red Ghost, Terrax, Super Skrull, Dr. Doom, and possibly Galactus.

Apparently, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer is the first Fantastic Four game that can be played as a team of four, as well as characters having their own missions. The Silver Surfer is an exclusive playable character. A "free roaming" mission can be unlocked in which the player can do anything, but the only way to unlock is to collect all Fantastic Four tokens and to complete the game in hard mode. The game also allows the use of fusion attacks, giving you the ability of switching powers to pull off new moves. In the trailer the Thing is seen using a smash attack that gave off waves of fire.

With phones now reaching paper levels of thinness it was only a matter of time before laptops went the same way. So Toshiba has run its already slight R200 series laptop t to create the 12.1in widescreen R500.

Measuring just 19.6mm in the vertical, it's the world's thinnest laptop with an optical drive. It'll squeeze in a reasonable 1.2GHz Core 2 Duo U7600, a Vista Business-friendly 1 gig of RAM and a meaty 120GB hard drive.

It also claims to be the world’s first 12.1in widescreen notebook with a backlit LED screen and it's got the longest battery life of any 12.1in widescreen model, promising "up to a full work day'". We have seen many mobile phones but I found SV280 by LG amusing and amazing. This mobile phone was first introduced in Korea with plain white version last April.

And now, LG has presented their new fruit-named cellphone also known as Green Banana Phone along with its perfect design from ear to mouth. It has perfectly matching green/white metal colors that syncs with the summer season.

According to Unwired View, the main focus of Korean designers while designing their “banana phones” was ergonomics. And, in their opinion, the curvy “banana” shape was the best for the phone. LG decided that to really make it ergonomic, the phone has to project liveliness, relieve stress and be even closer to mother nature.

And what better way to do that than painting the “banana” phone green?

Sometimes we can't avoid being stressed out to work. What's important is how we handle it? For me, the best way to relieve stress is through pleasing my stomach. Watching a great movie and talking to the closest person to your heart can also help.

A report by WCCO says more and more couples are sleeping in separate beds and sometimes room. They point out that 67 percent of American women have sleeping problems, and 75 percent of all adults wake in the night or snore, but another reason is a partner that is sleeping on the couch might be attributed to one's constant connection to his or her office. That's right, the report says the increase of email and text messaging in the bedroom are two reasons couples say they prefer to sleep alone.

Instead of giving in to your working habits in the bedroom, maybe it's time to cut the technological umbilical cord. Forbes published an article along the same lines. They say that according to therapists and psychologists, "around-the-clock access to the office often results in fatigue, a lack of intimacy, resentment, increased conflict and even premature career burnout." We've heard this over and over again. Leave the television out of the bedroom so you can sleep better. Maybe it's time to leave the other gadgets outside too.

LG has a Super Thin Colored E-paper

It finally has been done: a colored E-paper.

LG has announced that it had developed the world’s first 14.1-inch flexible color E-paper display, equivalent in size to an A4 sheet of paper. Philips LCD introduced the world’s first 14.1-inch black and white flexible E-paper display in May 2006.

The E-paper uses electronic ink to produce a maximum of 4,096 colors. It can be viewed from a full 180 degrees, so that images always appear crisp, even when the display is bent.

It only uses power when the image changes, making it extremely energy efficient. Additionally the displays are extremely thin (less than 300 micrometers) and images are comparable in quality to printed pages.

Wow. This really gives new meaning to portable tv.
